Eleanor Bowden and David Toplas joined forces through a shared passion to improve the lives of people currently underserved by the private housing market in the UK.
Their aim is to bring large-scale investment to help reduce these inequalities and supplement the work being done by the government and charitable sector.
Abode Impact was launched in July 2017 as part of the wider Bank of Mum and Dad for all initiative which aims to allow people to get a step up onto the property ladder, starting with those with greatest need: wheelchair users.
Eleanor, with her background in responsible business and social impact start-ups, has driven her passion for equal access to suitable housing for all into setting up and developing Abode Impact. This will see the launch of the accessible housing fund for London, and a plan for further funds in the future.
David has worked for over 20 years in social infrastructure ventures. He founded Mill Group and facilitated over £250 million investment into building and maintaining schools, libraries and hospitals. David also founded Community Sponsors Charity, which successfully channelled £500,000 of private funding into UK and overseas community projects.
