IMPACT ON MARKET

Building a marketplace
for accessible properties

Abode Impact believes it can demonstrate that wheelchair users with accessible housing needs can be an important PRS demographic. By providing much needed real world data and analytics about the accessible housing market, Abode Impact will enable developers and policy makers to make more informed decisions.

IMPACT ON INDIVIDUAL

Enabling greater choice
and independence

Living in an accessible home can significantly improve the mental, physical and financial wellbeing of wheelchair users. These benefits come from greater independence, stronger social cohesion with family, friends and community and the likelihood of being 4 x more likely to gain employment1.

IMPACT ON STATE

Increasing economic productivity
and reducing spend

Using impact investment to house around 700 wheelchair users could result in a significant economic gain to the state over a 15 year period. This is due to the anticipated increase in tenants gaining employment, and the reduction in the costs associated with care and bed blocking.

“Our quality of life as a family has improved 100% since being in this house that’s adapted. It was no life living in house that wasn’t adapted.”
